7 things you need to know if you’re thinking of a holiday in Paphos
Our Reservations Manager: Maija
What is your favorite thing about Paphos?
Maija: The stunning nature. Most of the villas in Paphos are surrounded by stunning mountains, banana plantations or direct views of the cliffs, caves and breath taking clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. So even if you are not a hiker or nature lover, this area is bound to make your mind relax and let you enjoy your holidays.
What makes this destination different from other areas in Cyprus?
Maija: The many different options for accommodation. In Paphos you can find a beach front villa within walking distance of all amenities or you can stay in a traditional stone-built villa in the mountains with complete privacy. This area is open for any kind of holiday maker!
What is one of your favorite Paphos villas and why?
Maija: Can I only pick one? There are so many great villas, but I guess if I had to choose one, my favorite Paphos villa is Holiday Villa Marianna 1. This villa has such a great outdoor area for relaxation and being with family and the inside is decorated to a modern high standard. And the best thing about this villa? The heated pool and fireplace allows you to even visit in the off season!
What have been some of the most popular Paphos Villas this year?
Do you need a car during a Paphos Villa stay?
Maija: Not necessarily, it depends on what villa you choose! Some of our villas are within walking distance of all amenities and the beach, while others are not. However, I still recommend a car, because there is so much to see in the area of Paphos! Go for a day trip up in the Troodos Mountains, drive to Lara Bay to see the turtles hatch, and so much more!
What local food should I try?
Maija: Souvla! A traditional Cypriot barbecue includes souvla, which is large pieces of meat (pork, lamb or chicken) cooked on a skewer over a charcoal barbecue. For a taste of Cyprus, I recommend going to one of the traditional taverns in Paphos to enjoy a Cypriot meze!
What is one thing you recommend visitors do or see while here?
Maija: The Mosaics of Paphos. The colourful and intricate Roman mosaics are a must see for all people visiting Cyprus. UNESCO has classified them as a World Heritage Site and they are truly among the most beautiful mosaics in the world! They are located in Kato Paphos near the harbor.
